Loose Joints. A Body That Feels Anything but Loose.
You can have joints that move further than other people's and still wake up feeling as though every movement takes negotiation.
Getting out of bed may take time. Your muscles can feel tense after an ordinary day. And being told that you are “just flexible” does little to explain the exhaustion, discomfort, or unpredictability of living in that body.
For people with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, that experience deserves more than a passing comment about being bendy.
Being hypermobile does not mean moving always feels easy.
hEDS is a heritable connective-tissue condition involving more than joint range of motion. Joint instability, persistent pain, fatigue, and other symptoms can occur together. Hypermobility spectrum disorders can also have a substantial impact on daily life.
Symptoms differ between people. No single explanation accounts for everyone's experience, and no supplement has been shown here to correct the condition.
But looking beyond the joints may help researchers ask better questions about the tissues surrounding them.
One of those tissues is fascia.
For clinical background and management information, see GeneReviews. [1]
What Researchers Found When They Looked at Fascia
Fascia surrounds and connects muscles and other structures throughout the body. It forms part of a connective-tissue environment that influences movement, force transmission, and sensory signaling.
That makes it relevant to investigate in a connective-tissue condition such as hEDS. It does not make fascia the proven cause of every symptom.
Thickness is not the same as a whole-body diagnosis
A more detailed picture of tissue structure
A 2021 study examined 65 people, including 26 with hEDS. The hEDS group had a thicker deep fascial layer around a neck muscle. The researchers did not find significant thickness differences at two other examined sites.
Wang & Stecco, American Journal of Medical Genetics Part C, 2021. [2]
The findings varied by tissue and comparison group. They do not establish that all fascia in hEDS is uniformly thick, dry, or hardened.
How freely do the layers move?
An early study of fascial gliding
A 2023 exploratory study of nine people investigated the iliotibial tract using ultrasound. It reported lower shear strain in the hEDS group than in the comparison groups, suggesting reduced movement between tissue layers.
Wang et al., Journal of Ultrasound, 2023. [3]
This was a very small study of one anatomical region. It did not measure a whole-body “density,” prove permanent tissue fusion, or test a supplement.
A closer look at connective-tissue anatomy
An emerging framework, rather than a final answer
Fascia as part of the hEDS research picture
A 2025 narrative review brought together imaging, cellular, and biomechanical findings to propose a fascia-centered framework for hEDS and HSD.
Wang, Stecco, Hakim & Schleip, International Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2025. [4]
A review can connect findings and suggest future research. It cannot prove one root cause, establish a cure, or demonstrate the effectiveness of Ritualise.
These studies support closer investigation of tissue mechanics. The next step is better research into how those observations relate to symptoms and treatment.
The Burning, the Stiffness, and the Symptoms Beyond the Joints
People with hEDS often describe experiences that seem difficult to reconcile: flexible joints alongside stiffness, movement alongside exhaustion, or burning pain despite some routine tests being unremarkable.
Different symptoms can have different contributors. Researchers are studying peripheral nerves, tissue mechanics, autonomic function, and other systems rather than assuming every symptom comes from a single compressed layer.
Stiff but hypermobile
Joint range and everyday comfort are different things. A joint can move widely while surrounding muscles feel tense or painful.
Fatigue
Pain, sleep, autonomic symptoms, and the effort of daily activities may all deserve attention.
Burning or tingling
These symptoms deserve an appropriate assessment. Small sensory fibers are one area of investigation.
Brain fog
Difficulty concentrating is part of some people's experience. It does not identify one tissue abnormality.
Small fibers deserve attention
A 2022 study assessed 79 people with hEDS or HSD referred because small fiber neuropathy was suspected. Among the 69 who had both skin biopsy and sensory testing, 58% met the study’s criteria for definite small fiber neuropathy.
Fernandez et al., Journal of Internal Medicine, 2022. [5]
This selected referral group does not establish prevalence in everyone with hEDS. The study did not show that fascia compression caused the nerve findings or that Ritualise treats neuropathy.
A useful explanation should make room for complexity—and for the person living with it.
Where does collagen fit into the discussion?
It is understandable to wonder whether taking collagen could help a connective-tissue condition. But a biological rationale is not the same as demonstrated benefit in hEDS.
Neither the imaging studies above nor the fascial-gliding findings establish that collagen supplements worsen the condition. They also do not establish that replacing collagen with another supplement reverses hEDS.
Hyaluronan, a component of the extracellular matrix, is another subject of research because of its relationship with tissue hydration and gliding.
A 2021 review discusses those mechanisms. A separate Kawada review discusses oral hyaluronan and dry skin; it was published in 2014 and does not test hEDS treatment. [6] [8]
Use an illustrative tissue image here, rather than an unlabelled before-and-after treatment result.
Individualized care remains important. Physical therapy adapted to joint stability and tolerance, pacing, supports, and symptom-specific care can have a role. A supplement should not replace that plan.
Introducing Ritualise Connective Tissues
A daily connective-tissue support formula built around nine carefully selected ingredients.
Ritualise is a daily nutritional supplement for people interested in connective-tissue support. Its formulation brings together structural nutrients, botanical extracts, and enzymes in one two-capsule serving.
The fascia research above does not show that a supplement can reverse hEDS or stabilize hypermobile joints.
Nine ingredients.
Two capsules.
One simple routine.
Hyaluronic acid, botanical extracts, enzymes, and essential trace minerals. 30 daily servings per pouch.
90-Day Satisfaction Guarantee on eligible purchases
Hyaluronic acid is included because hyaluronan is a natural component of connective tissues.
Silica-containing bamboo extract and trace minerals contribute to the structural-nutrition rationale.
Botanicals and enzymes have been investigated in different tissue and inflammation-related contexts.
Why hyaluronic acid deserves attention
A 2024 systematic review examined 11 studies involving 597 participants in osteoarthritis and low-back-pain populations. Nine studies reported improvements in at least some measures relating to pain, stiffness, or function.
de Carvalho & Davidson, Mediterranean Journal of Rheumatology, 2024. [7]
These studies did not test Ritualise and were not conducted in hEDS populations. Ingredient findings do not establish that the finished formula treats hEDS, HSD, POTS, MCAS, or neuropathy.
Inside every daily serving
An extracellular-matrix component involved in tissue hydration and viscoelastic properties.
A source of silica, included as part of the structural-nutrition rationale.

Ritualise is intended as a nutritional supplement, not a replacement for prescribed care.
Real Experiences From Ritualise Customers
Research helps establish what can be demonstrated under controlled conditions. Customer stories show how individual people describe their experiences.
These are individual customer reports, not clinical evidence. Outcomes will vary, and their explanations of symptoms or ingredients are personal interpretations.
Diagnosed hEDS at 31 after 14 years of being told it was anxiety. Two rounds of PT, the second one gave me a shoulder subluxation on the table. Ring splints, tape, LDN, the whole thing. The part nobody could explain was why I'm hypermobile and still wake up like concrete.
The article was the first thing that explained that. Four weeks in and I'm out of bed in twenty minutes instead of two hours. My PT asked what changed. My joints are still my joints — I'm not claiming anything about that — but the tissue around them isn't fighting me all day anymore.
Trifecta — hEDS, POTS, MCAS. 29. The nerve pain in my legs was the thing ruining me, gabapentin made me a zombie and didn't touch it, neurologist said my nerve test was normal so it was "central." Someone in the zebra group posted this and the skin biopsy study was the first time I felt like a doctor believed the burning was real.
Eight weeks. Not gone, but I fall asleep now. I still take my propranolol and my antihistamines, nothing changed there. The article said collagen wouldn't work and why, and that's the only reason I trusted it.
41, two kids, both hypermobile like me. I was a dancer until 24 and then my body just quit. Fatigue was the thing — I'd have to lie down after making lunch. Spent thousands on collagen over the years, felt nothing, felt stupid for buying it.
Three months on this. I'm not going to say I have my old energy. But I did the school run, the grocery store, and dinner yesterday without lying down in between, and I can't remember the last time that happened. That's the review.
More customer experience imagery
Individual experiences do not establish typical or guaranteed results.
A daily ritual alongside your existing care
Take two capsules per day according to the product label. Ask a pharmacist or the manufacturer before opening capsules or changing how you take them.
If you have hEDS, HSD, POTS, MCAS, another medical condition, or take medication, ask a qualified healthcare professional to review the complete formula before you begin. “Natural” does not establish compatibility with every medicine or condition. Do not change or discontinue prescribed treatment because of a supplement.
Quality and manufacturing
Ritualise has supplied manufacturing documentation relating to food-facility registration, HACCP, and quality-management processes.
Batch-specific third-party testing reports are not yet available.
Manufacturing registration and management-system certifications are not evidence that the finished supplement treats a medical condition.

Your experience deserves to be taken seriously
Being told you are flexible is not an explanation for everything that makes daily life difficult. Research into fascia and sensory nerves is helping broaden the questions being asked about hEDS.
That is a reason for continued investigation—not a promise that one nutrient or one formula has solved the condition.
If you are exploring daily connective-tissue nutritional support alongside your existing care, you can review Ritualise’s ingredients, label, and purchase options before deciding whether it fits your routine.
